In the mid 1980’s I became much more connected to issues in adult education. Namely my own education and how it influenced my students. Teaching management studies to adults made me realise that my own education needed beefing up and I left teaching to pursue a degree at the University of Victoria. Graduating with a double major I was soon off to other shores and spent many years teaching in Asia. I returned to Canada early in 2002 and immediately embarked on a journey into business ownership where, with investors I created an ESL school with close ties to a ready supply of Asian students. This business was sold after a couple of years and I found myself returning to my stand-by industry and then launching my own company again in 2008. Since then I have taken on a huge number of projects with my consulting company ranging from industry specific projects and taking on teaching and training opportunities in adult education.
I become somewhat unsettled a couple of years ago with my education and applied to the University of New Brunswick for their Master of Education program and completed my degree in early 2014. The PIDP seemed like a good follow-up to provide some additional opportunities for further training and professional development.
With this website I want to explore some of my interests and issues in adult education in a much more public forum and see where it leads! Comments are especially welcome and I will do my best to reply to each and every comment that you post on the blog page.
All the best,
Mike
